About Me

Hello, and welcome! It’s nice to meet you.

img_0943I’m a feisty, feminist, kinky, liberal, bacon-loving, grammarazi, nudist, yogi, sexuality-and-gender geek. By day, I work as a family law paralegal, but my mission is to open my own therapy practice as a queer-friendly, kink-friendly psychotherapist specializing in sexuality, gender, and relationship issues.

This is my first foray into blogging. My blog is raw, honest, and constantly evolving.

I started this blog with three goals in mind. First, I wanted to practice writing more concisely (a constant uphill battle for me) so that when it comes time to write my personal statement for graduate schools, I won’t panic as much. Second, I wanted to learn how to market myself, as that’s a skill I will need to be finely honed as an independent business owner. And third, I wanted to see if I could monetize a blog. I will consider myself a success on the day when I can buy myself a $5 sandwich entirely from blog revenue. (UPDATE: $5 earned!)

Quirky facts about me:

  1. Bright lights make me sneeze.
  2. I hate submerging my head in water about as much as picking usernames for websites.
  3. I’ve never tried cotton candy, PopTarts, or energy drinks.
  4. I’m a compulsive listmaker. (Shocking, I know.)
  5. I haven’t had a professional haircut in over ten years. I do it all myself.
  6. If I never had to drive myself anywhere again, it would be too soon. It’s not that I mind driving so much as I mind the stress of sharing the road with other drivers.
  7. I am terrified of large crowds, and I abhor ceremonies. I skipped both my high school and college graduations without regret.
  8. I can recite the first 50 digits of pi from memory. The 50th digit is 0.

I love getting to know my readers personally. Feel free to ask or share anything you like; nothing is too personal. I live my life openly because I feel that is the most effective way to build meaningful relationships with other people.

  1. Been reading you for a while and you sometimes surprise the shit outta me with being so candid and forthright with your opinions and views. That said……………I LOVE IT!!! Where the hell were ya when I was dating lol. All the gals I dated seem to want or HAVE to play the game of who’s on first and what’s on second (don’t know if you know that reference or not) at any rate, you my dear are without a doubt A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. Best of luck as you move forward with this blog and your career.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words and your continued patronage! Candid and forthright is always my goal because it’s real and relatable, and that’s the quality of conversation that I want to inspire my readers to pursue. People have so much more in common than we think, including the taboo. That’s why I especially enjoy saying what others choose not to say aloud. 🙂

  2. Thank you for following me – it allowed me to find you, and for that I am grateful. You have a very interesting blog, and an even more interesting bio. I love so many of those things; bacon, feminists, liberals, nudists, yogis … nothing turns me on more than the thought of early morning sex with someone who is really bendy, open minded and can appreciate a bacon sandwich when all is said and done. I was going to say, no but on a serious note, but then realized the first bit was serious, so on another note, its great to find your blog. I have only had a little mooch at the moment, but it looks fantastic. I have a love hate relationship with my blog. At the moment, I can’t work out which it is …

    1. Thank you so much for the kind, humorous words! Glad we each found great company, and I can’t wait to explore your blog further. I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of bloggers have a love-hate relationship with their blogs. I certainly do. I spend hours slaving over each post, making myself neurotic to get them as near-perfect as I can. I love my works when I finish, but the process is sometimes more like I’m twisting my own arm. How about with you?

    1. Thank you so much; that’s wonderful to hear! Reading your back posts is high on my priority list as well because your blog looks FANTASTIC so far! There’s never enough feminism on the internet. But I’m glad you’ve been entertained so far by my writing. Like you, I also appreciate honesty and critical analysis, and I enjoy setting an example for people who are not yet comfortable sharing their most genuine voices.

  3. Hello, there. Well, you pretty much had me at “liberal, bacon-loving, grammarazi”… this sounds a bit more interesting than the usual! I’ll drop by later and check out your posts. For now I’ll just leave you with this: Grammar… Knowing your shit from you’re shit. XD

          1. Heh, well, the problem with being an über-geek (“elder-geek”… I like that; I’ll have to remember that one) is that you actually care about the difference. [sigh]

            It’s a burden! A burden, I tell you!! 😮

                  1. Have you ever heard the joke about the college philosophy professor who says, “Every time I think I’ve had an original idea, I discover that some damned ancient Greek thought of it first!”
